BACK TO NATURE
July 26 - September 9
Photographs by Catherine Rogers of Paronella Park ruins, near Innisfail, in Queensland.
From 1929, Jose Paronella built, by hand, over several hectares, fantasy pleasure grounds intended for the enjoyment of others. His dream, which first opened in 1935, is now largely a ruin, yet it is an immensely popular tourist destination. Visitors today can enjoy the extensive gardens and admire the scale of Paronella’s ambition, but can now only imagine the delights of a wonderful place that, all too briefly, once was.
OPENING HOURS: Wednesday to Saturday 12 – 5pm
Note: Gallery will be closed from 15 August to 8 September
