Light
November 10, 2016 - November 22, 2016
Light
by Seed Stitch Collective
Light passes through. It has a presence and an absence, extends beyond the visible and is felt. It is transformative: changing what we feel, see and experience. It is how we survive and grow.
The window-lined walls of Paddington’s Barometer gallery provide the perfect setting to explore the complexities and nuances of light through fibre and textile art practices. The cultural histories, lived experiences and technical interests of the artists coalesce with ideas of knowledge, contact, weight and reflection.
The artworks in this exhibition are informed by textile techniques, material qualities and making processes. They extend traditional practice into new areas of technical and conceptual terrain. Common to all is the connection formed between maker and material, material and ideas through intimate and considered engagement and their relationship with light.
