Autonomy Clinic
Opening Sunday 3-5 pm
Open Sunday, artist in residence Tuesday- Saturday 11-6pm
What remains after dissecting oneself? Teenage artist Aedan Madden has created a room of white sculptures, made from various media such as fabric, plaster, wire and wax, to form his autonomy clinic.
The works reflect on his current state, the transition from child to adult, the process of defining who you are and what no longer is. Displaying the subconscious decisions we make to extend and improve ourselves, to cast new parts and to cast away others.
The absence of colour in his work constructs a foreign atmosphere, a distraction from what is constantly changing, as well as providing a clinical environment, a place where one can search for their autonomy.
Autonomy Clinic ultimately comments on the process of change every individual has to go through, depicting it in an imposing, immense, yet beautiful way.
